Tim McEwan - President and Chief Executive Officer
Tim was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer on February 18, 2008. He previously served as founding Executive Director of the BC Progress Board, an independent board of senior business and academic leaders tasked with benchmarking provincial performance and providing strategic advice to the Premier and Government of British Columbia. Prior to this, he served as Director, Programs and Policy with the Business Council of BC, the province's pre-eminent, blue-chip, cross-sectoral business association. He currently serves on a number of boards including the Ministry of Advanced Education's Degree Quality Assessment Board, The Business Council of BC, Northwest Corridor Development Corporation, the Prince George Native Friendship Society and the Focus Foundation of BC, a not-for-profit organization focusing on troubled and at-risk youth. Tim holds a Master of Public Administration and Bachelor of Arts, both from the University of Victoria.

Sarah Kirk - Manager, Administration
Sarah Kirk has sixteen years experience in administration. As Manager, Administration, Sarah's responsibilities include management of the corporation's budget, finances, real estate holdings; human resources, general office and IT. She is also responsible for Board/Committee management for corporate Initiatives Prince George and Progress Prince George. Sarah was born and raised in Prince George and has a Bachelor of Arts from UBC.
Courtney Powney - Executive Assistant
Courtney has been with Initiatives Prince George since June 2008. She is not new to the office as she was a Visitor Information Councillor for three summers. She graduated from the College of New Caledonia in 2007 with a Marketing and Management Diploma. Courtney is also a full time Figure Skating Coach with the Prince George Figure Skating Club.
Katherine Scouten - Vice President, Economic Development
Katherine has been employed with Initiatives Prince George since 2003, working with government and industry to attract investment to Prince George and Northern British Columbia. As a member of the senior management team at Initiatives Prince George, she is directly involved with strategic goal setting, and establishing and managing economic development programs in key growth sectors including mining, transportation and logistics, tourism, bioenergy, and downtown development.
She has been in Prince George since 1993 when she moved from Winnipeg, Manitoba; holds a BSc (Hons) and MBA from the University of Manitoba. Previous to joining IPG she has worked as a consultant in the ag-biotech industry and also instructed at the UNBC Business Department for 7 years. She is currently a Trustee with The Exploration Place and a Director with the newly established Tourism Prince George Society.
Wei Liu - Director, Export Market Development
Before joining Initiatives Prince George, Wei Liu was a project manager of Shenhua Group, China's leading and world's second largest public coal-based energy company with integrated business in power generation. Before Shenhua, he was a sales manager of the Beijing representative office of U-Fuel Inc - a US-based engineering and marketing firm that specializes in designing and manufacturing fuel dispensing equipment. Mr. Liu obtained his Bachelor's degree in Business Management from the University of Central Missouri in the United States, and he obtained his MBA from the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto.
Tara Bogh - Senior Economic and Market Research Analyst
Tara started at Initiatives Prince George as a summer student before joining the team full time in 2008. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Political Science from UNBC and brings over ten years of varied experience in project coordination, research and sales to the organization. Tara works closely with the VP - Economic Development, collecting and analyzing data key to the economic diversification of Prince George.
Melissa James - Manager, Marketing & Communications, Prince George Labour Recruitment and Retention
Melissa James joined our staff in January of 2009 on the Prince George Recruitment and Retention project. She came to Prince George in 2006 to attend UNBC and now holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from UNBC with a double major in International Business and Marketing. She continues her involvement on the campus as an alumni by mentoring new business students.
Sherry Powney - Visitor Services Manager
In her duties as Manager of the Prince George Visitor Information Centre, Sherry manages a staff that ranges from one to twelve depending on the season, bringing over 25 years of experience in the hospitality industry to the position. In 2003 Sherry began working as a Counsellor at the VIC and has gained extensive knowledge of travel and tourism activities in northern BC. She is a graduate of the CNC Hospitality Program and is a Go2 volunteer speaker.
Annie Doran - Marketing Coordinator
In her role as Marketing Coordinator, Annie's responsibilities include community tourism programs, liaising with stakeholders and marketing the many events held in Prince George to local and outside audiences. Annie grew up on the family farm in the southern half of the province before moving to Prince George to attend the University of Northern BC - she recently graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Outdoor Recreation and Tourism Management. Annie's past work experience as one of the many industrious counsellors at the Prince George Visitor Information Centre, makes her a welcome addition to the Initiatives Prince George team.
