Clint Dahl - Chair
Born and raised in northern British Columbia, Clint is an Account Executive with Bell Mobility, responsible for Corporate Sales. Prior to joining Bell, Clint was co-founder of Noratek Solutions Inc, a local, award-winning technology company that develops handheld software solutions. Clint has served on the Initiatives Prince George board for six years. He previously served as Governance Chair and is also involved with Rotary and is a board member of the Innovation Resource Centre. Clint and his wife Maureen enjoy golfing, travelling to sunny destinations and are kept very busy raising two energetic, young daughters.
Mark Feldinger - Vice Chair
Mark began his career with Canfor in 1984 and was recently appointed VP - Manufacturing. Prior to his appointment, Mark held a number of senior management positions in the company. Born and raised in BC, Mark is a graduate of the Science in Forestry program at UBC. He is a Registered Professional Forester with the Association of BC Forest Professionals. Mark joined our Board in 2007.
David George - Treasurer
Born and raised in Prince George, David has over twenty years business experience as the owner of SpeeDee Printers. He is very busy managing the four stores throughout Northern BC employing eighty staff and makes the time to be an active Initiatives Prince George Board member. David has been on the Board for seven years.
Dr. Charles Jago, C.M.
With a B.A.(Hon) from The University of Western Ontario, and an M.A. and Ph.D. from Cambridge, Charles Jago joined the Department of History at McMaster University in 1971, eventually achieving the rank of Professor. From 1987- 1995 he served as Principal of Huron University College, the founding College of The University of Western Ontario, and from 1995-2006 and 2008-09 as President of the University of Northern British Columbia.
He currently serves chairs the Boards of the Fraser Basin Council, Canfor Pulp Co. Ltd. Partnership, the Northern Health Authority and the Canadian Skin Patient Alliance, and serves on the Board of Initiatives Prince George and the Canada West Foundation. He was a founding board member of Partnerships BC and also served on the board of 2010 Legacies Now.
Dr. Jago is the recipient of the Queen’s Jubilee Medal and the Order of Canada, the latter primarily in recognition of his role as a founder of the Northern Medical Program at UNBC.
David Livingstone
David was appointed to the Initiatives Prince George Board in 2009 and brings over twenty years of senior management experience in retail, hospitality, property management and construction sectors to the organization. Currently he is President of Lomak Bulk Carriers Corp. one of the largest bulk transportation companies in BC. David is also President of the Okanagan-based Hester Creek Estate Winery - one of BC's most awarded wineries and serves as Vice-Chair with the BC Wine Institute.
Sue Armstrong
Sue is a partner with Uniglobe Travel, and also serves on the Executive Boards for Yellowhead Rotary, Child Find BC, and the Uniglobe Franchise Owners Association for Western Canada. Sue is coming up on her five-year anniversary of serving on the Initiatives Prince George Board which includes a term as Treasurer.
Glen Wonders
In his role as Terrane Metals' Vice-President Corporate Affairs & Sustainability, Glen brings over two decades of experience in natural resources management to Initiatives Prince George. Earning a BSc in Forestry from the University of Alberta and an MBA from Royal Roads University, he has worked in forestry throughout northern BC in both the public and private sector. In 2003 Glen joined the BC Ministry of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources where he was involved in strategic planning and regulatory issues. Glen also served one year on the Progress Prince George Board before being appointed to the Initiatives Prince George Board in 2009.
Rosalind Thorne
Rosalind is President of the Prince George Construction Association and BC Construction Association - North. She lends her professional expertise to many groups in Prince George including the College of New Caledonia and the Immigrant Skilled Trades Employment Program. Rosalind just complete five years on the Progress Prince George Board and this is her first term on the Initiatives Prince George Board.
Derek Bates - City of Prince George (Ex-Officio)
Derek Bates began his career in government with the British Columbia Ministry of Environment, Lands and Parks in 1987. Two years later, he joined the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George and over the next eighteen years, served as its Environmental Services Director, Deputy Chief Administrative Officer and Chief Administrative Officer. In January 2007, Derek joined the City of Prince George as City Manager where he manages a staff of 750 and an annual budget of $140 million. He has served on the Initiatives Prince George Board since 2004 in his management roles at the Regional District and City.
John Bowman - College of New Caledonia (Ex-Officio)
John Bowman was appointed to the position of President and Chief Executive Officer of the College of New Caledonia in 2007. John was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Manitoba in 1983, and a Master of Arts Degree in Leadership and Training from Royal Roads University in 2003. From September 2006 to May 2007 John served in the role of "Interim" President at CNC and prior to that was Vice President Student Services from August 2004 to September 2006. Prior to moving to Prince George in 2004, he served as the College's Regional Director in Quesnel for seven years. John's varied career path includes senior positions at Kwantlen University College, Manitoba Department of Education, Winnipeg School District and the Government of the Northwest Territories.
Dr. George Iwama - University of Northern BC (Ex-Officio)
Dr. Iwama comes to UNBC from Carleton University, where he spent two years as Dean of the Faculty of Science. He previously held the same position at Acadia University, where he also served for a year as Vice-President Academic. Dr. Iwama holds a PhD in Zoology from the University of British Columbia and was a professor there for fifteen years, during which time he received numerous academic fellowships and awards and conducted research on animal physiology. He has experience in building university-industry-government-community partnerships and was the driving force behind the creation of “science cafes” in Ottawa and Nova Scotia in an effort to bring the excitement of scientific innovation to the public.
Jennifer Brandle-McCall - Prince George Chamber of Commerce (Ex-Officio)
Jennifer Brandle-McCall moved to Prince George from Victoria in 2005. During her first few years in Prince George, she worked towards achieving her MA in Professional Communication through Royal Roads University. In 2009, she worked with the College of New Caledonia International Education Office as their International Summer Program Coordinator. Jennifer enjoys giving back to the Hart community, where she resides, by volunteering as the Communications Officer with the Hart Community Association. Jennifer recently joined the IPG board in 2010 after taking over as Chief Executive Officer for the Prince George Chamber of Commerce managing a committed staff of five and a dedicated and resourceful Chamber Board of Directors and Executive.
Jim Martin - Regional District of Fraser-Fort George (Ex-Officio)
Jim is the Chief Administrative Officer for the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George. Based in Prince George, Jim has been with the Regional District since 1994 where he started in the Environmental Services Department and over time progressively advanced to his current role. Jim graduated with a Bachelor of Science from Simon Fraser University in 1990. Over the years Jim has enhanced his academic education with additional studies in the fields of leadership, executive management and local government administration.
Cathy Ulrich - Northern Health Authority (Ex-Officio)
Cathy was appointed president and CEO of Northern Health in June 2007. Prior to that she was Vice President of Clinical Services and Chief Nursing officer where she successfully garnered and engaged resources for rural and northern health initiatives. Cathy spent the majority of her medical career in rural and northern locations where she gained a solid understanding of rural health issues and unique approaches required to meet these needs. She has always taken an active role in health services research, teaching and graduate student support. Cathy is a recent appointee to the Initiatives Prince George Board joining us in 2008.
